今回の紹介は、「kiitos」について。フィンランド語で「ありがとう」の意味。おそらく、わたしが初めて覚えたフィンランド語。でも、フィンランドに行ったとき、あまりにも英語が通じるので（スウェーデンのときは、けっこう苦労した）実際使う場面なし。いま思えば、「こんにちは」「ありがとう」くらいは、英語ではなく現地の言葉を話せばよかったかなと思って反省。でも、発音とか全然分からない。どなたか教えて〜（笑）！
この「kiitos」、フィンランド航空の機内誌の名前でもあります。フィンランド航空には、まだ乗ったことがないのですが、読んでみたくて取り寄せてみました。（購読希望の方は、申し込みすると1年間無料で届けてくれます。興味のある方はフィンランド航空HPで詳細をご確認ください。）私の手元にあるのは、Autumn2004-Winter2005の22号ですが、届いてびっくり！こんなすごい充実の機内誌初めて。フィンランドの基礎知識はもちろんのこと、ヘルシンキの地図やレストラン・ショップ情報満載で、これ1冊あればガイドブック忘れてもなんとかなりそうな1冊。そして今回とても面白く読んだのが、「フィンランドの椅子に座る、幸せの時間」という特集で、アアルトの椅子をはじめとして、フィンランドの椅子が特集されています。椅子というと、日本ではデンマークの椅子などに知名度も人気も押されがちな印象のフィンランドの椅子。でも、うちはそんなフィンランドの椅子が好きなので、とても面白く、また勉強しつつ読みました。
「kiitos」という名は、他にも素敵なショップがあります。京都に行った際に訪れたマリメッコの充実したショップ「kiitos」。詳細は京都旅行記を読んでください。店員さんも、とっても親切な方で、またぜひ行きたいショップのひとつです。
それから、こちらには行けなかったのですが、京都には「kiitos」という名前のパン屋さんがあります。フィンランドで修行して、帰国後オープンさせたお店ということで、フィンランドの味が堪能できそう♪HPで確認したところ、配送も可能なようなので、近々、送ってもらおうかと思っています。その中で、気になるパン発見！その名は「カリャラン・ピーラッカ」。カレリヤ地方のパイという意味でフィンランドを代表する軽食で、薄いライ麦の生地でミルクがゆを包んだものだそう。このパン、イッタラのスーパーで購入したのですが、日本にはないタイプのパンだったので、購入に躊躇した一品。結局、食べたらけっこう美味しく、その後、フィンランドカフェでも再会し、その時も美味しく食べたのでした。名前が気になっていたので、ここで発見しすっきり。そのまま食べてもいいみたいですが、HPにはこんな食べ方も載っていました。温めたピーラッカに、ムナボイ（きざんだゆで卵とバターを混ぜ込んだもの）をのせていただく。うーん、想像しただけでも美味しそう。イッタラから帰る電車の中で食べた時も、「これ、暖めたらもっと美味しいよね〜」といいつつ食べた記憶があるし。
次に、フィンランドに行く時は、ちゃんと「kiitos!」と言えるように、いまから練習しなくちゃ〜♪と思う今日この頃です。
